Everybody always has questions on license renewal. Follow these steps and your license renewal will be complete. There are always exceptions to the normal MCE renewal and when you have questions call TREC. The following phone number is not their main number but another number that gets answered.

1.The first step is to see what MCE/SAE classes you have already completed and has been recorded at TREC since your last renewal. (15 Hours MCE / 60 Hours SAE)

2.Now that you know what classes to complete. Take the Required Courses:

3 Steps To Renew Your License

Follow these simple steps to obtain your Texas Real Estate License Online. Click on each step for links to complete the next step.
1.The first step is to complete the required Texas real estate courses set forth by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). If you have completed at least 2 college courses in the past then all you need is the 5 course package. All others will need to complete the 7 course package. All courses work can be completed online and at your own pace. (Click Here)
2.Submit your application and Certificates of completion of your Texas real estate courses along with any college courses (transcripts) to the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). File Application Online. (Click Here)
3.When you are notified by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) that your courses have been evaluated and your application accepted you can then take your state exam. TREC will send you an email with online links and phone numbers to PSI which is the testing company that adminsters the test. You will then be able to schedule and take the exam.
4.After passing the exam you will be a licensed real estate agent in the state of Texas. You will be on inactive status, meaning you cannot practice real estate, until you find a broker to sponsor you. Once you have found a sponsoring broker you will be activated and will now be able to practice and sale real estate.

Final note: Finding a broker to sponsor you is easy. When you are a licensed agent you become a qualified talent and they will all be trying to recruit you. Be picky about who you choose... its your career.

First Year Renewal Agents Only. All active and inactive salespersons, who are under the Salesperson Annual Education (SAE) requirement, must show evidence of having completed a minimum of 60 hours in core or related real estate education during the first year of licensure, so that a total of 270 classroom hours have been completed by the end of the first year of licensure. At least 210 hours of the 270 must be in core real estate. Therefore the other 60 hours may be in related. Evidence of successful course completion must be posted to the TREC computer system prior to the online renewal process or the license will expire. Evidence of course completion cannot be submitted during the online renewal process. You may use the SAE Cover Sheet, and you must submit your hours at least 10 days prior to the date you wish to renew online. Course completion certificates may be mailed to the address above or faxed to TREC's Education Section at
(512) 936-3863. Please allow 10 business days for processing.
